1. Braided Ponytail

Ponytails are classic updos to wear with hair extensions for some excellent reasons.

They're effortless.

They're cute.

And, they can be dressed up or down, usually depending on if you're wearing gym gear or a little black dress.

This updo with halo hair extensions is just a standard low ponytail with a little twist.

Literally.

This style can be worn cute and casual or elevated with accessories for more formal events.

So, how to create this look?

Start with clean, dry hair and add your favourite volumising product.

Add your halo to boost the volume and add more bulk for the braid.

Without the halo, this look will fall flat, (literally) and the braid will look too thin.

For looks like this I recommend using the fine or medium halo, depending on the length and texture of your natural hair.

If your locks are super thick you can upgrade to the thick halo.

Loosely curl your strands to create some subtle movement and volume.

Pull your hair back into a low ponytail and loosely braid the length leaving about an inch at the bottom.

Pull the braid out so that it is super thick and wide.

Don't fret if a few strands fall out, this only adds to the unkempt look.

Pull out two strands at the front to frame your face.

To dress this style up add a headband, decorative clip or statement earnings.

2. Twisted Bun

Messy bun and getting stuff done!

This is the staple style of low maintenance ladies everywhere.

Except, it can actually be incredibly hard to perfect!

We all know the only time our messy bun every looks good is right before we hop in the shower!

But, this simple halo hack will have your messy bun looking 10/10 every time with minimal effort.

Often the reason we can perfect this style is lack of volume.

The fine or medium halo will give your hair the bulk it needs to take your bun up a notch.

3. Half up Half Down

The half up half down hairstyle has come back in a big way since it first surged in popularity in the early 90s.

And like most 90s resurgence, we are here for this fun and flirty look.

It is easy, versatile and universally flattering for all face shapes.

Even sans the halo, this style makes thin hair look thicker.

So, how to wear halo hair extensions in half up half down hairstyle?

Firstly, you'll want to wear your halo sitting slightly lower than you normally would.

This makes hiding the hairpiece much easier.

Pull a small section of hair from the crown of your head into a ponytail. Make sure to leave ample hair to cover the halo at the back.

Pull the pony tight to create volume at the top of your head and tease it for a little extra va-va-voom.

Add some big voluminous curls to the rest of your hair.

Complete the look by adding a scrunchie or headscarf to the base of your pony.

4. High Bun

One of the most surprising updos for halo extensions is the high bun.

What is this witchcraft?

Again, the main issue with most buns is lack of volume.

With the help of the halo, your messy bun will go from limp, flat and blah to full, boho and beautiful.

To create this up style start by adding some loose messy curls to your hair and the halo, separately.

Tease the hair on the crown of your head slightly to create more volume then pull your hair into a loose high pony, leaving a few strands out around your face.

This is where things get interesting.

To add the halo to a high bun, remove the wire and replace it with 2 bobby pins either side of the hairpiece.

Pin one side underneath the pony and wrap the halo around the base on the ponytail.

Pin the strands of the pony and halo around the base to create a bun.

5. High Pony

The high pony is classic, but everything needs a little bit of reboot from time to time.

Sick of limp and lifeless ponytails that look more like you're going to the supermarket then the bar?

The halo is the perfect way to take this simple style up a notch, or 2.

So, how to wear halo hair extensions in a high ponytail?

This process is almost identical to the high bun, but instead of wrapping the length of the hair around the base to create the bun, you leave it out.

The other high pony hack is to leave an inch wide section of hair out of the pony to cover the hair tie at the end.
