Tips For Wearing Halo Hair Extensions

Here are 8 simple tips and tricks you need to know to maximise your potential with your halo hair extensions!

Get the right colour match

The most important thing when wearing halo hair extensions is the colour match.

The wrong shade can cause your extensions to look fake and stand out a little too much against your strands.

But don't fret, we have a few halo hair extension tips and tricks to make colour matching a breeze.

First of all, slide into our DMs.

Literally.

Send us a DM on Instagram or Facebook to chat with one of our colour matching specialists.

Just send us an unedited selfie in natural light so we can see your strands and tell you which halo is your perfect match.

If you want to fly solo when it comes to colour matching your halo hair extensions, another tip is when in doubt, go lighter.

And what I mean by that is always match the halo to the lightest part of your locks.

This will ensure a natural look and create stunning highlights scattered throughout your hair if the colour isn't 100%.

Also keep in mind that different digital devices will display colours differently.

Even adding a screen protector to your screen will change the way the colour looks. So we encourage you to contact our team to get some help.

Boost the volume of your halo hair extensions

When you receive your halo it may feel a little thin. Not to worry, this is normal.

Our extensions come in 2 lengths, 16 inches and 20 inches, and each length comes in 3 thicknesses, Fine, Medium and Thick. So they are plenty thick.

But during the manufacturing process the hair extensions are industrially straightened.

But here is a pro halo hair extensions trick to thicken 'em up.

Wet it.

Yep, wet the halo.

Don't wash it.

Just run it under some water and either dry it or leave it to air dry.

This will rinse away excess silicon and allows the natural body of the hair to recover (when the little curves in each hair strain return from their straighted position). Now the halo will literally double in thickness.

This is one of the most important tips and tricks for wearing halo hair extensions naturally.

Because at the end of the day you don't want them to look perfectly straight. You want them to look like your own hair, curves and all!

The Thick Halo in #2

Cutting your halo to blend

The worst halo blending blunder is not cutting your extensions to blend with your hair!

Giving the halo a little trim before wearing it will ensure that it isn't too thick or too blunt for your natural hair.

This creates a seamless blend and a far more natural look.

We always suggest going to a stylist to have the halo cut, but you can DIY if you're game enough. Plenty of girls do!

Another halo hair extensions tip is not just to trim the extensions but, have your hair cut to suit it.

If you have blunt ends, the extension might not blend very well.

So, have the ends of your hair thinned out a little so they can easily flow into the halo.

This will prevent that awkward and not so cute line when your hair ends, and the extensions start.

Selecting the right wires

Sitting Pretty Halo Extensions come with plenty of wires to suit all head shapes, it's a matter of fitting it correctly and finding the right one for you.

It is up to you which wire you prefer. But your halo should fit snug and stay in place, beginning a few inches back from your forehead to sit just under your occipital bone.

The occipital bone is the small bump on the back of your head just above the nape of your neck.

Fun fact: Some people don't have a prominent occipital bone.

If the halo doesn't feel secure, it does come with attachable velcro clips for that extra bit of safety.

But on the very off chance, there isn't a wire that fits your head; you can make your own.

Simply get some nylon wire and measure it from the middle of one ear to the other. There's actually a spare piece of nylon wire included with your Halo when you bought it (if you bought it after Dec 2020) for exactly this purpose.

Leave an extra inch either side and tie the wire to the hooks which come with your halo.

And just like that, you have a perfectly fitting custom Halo wire!

Styling Tips For Halo Hair Extensions

For the next 3 tips we will focus on styling hacks, to help you get daily use of your halo hair extensions:

Tying your halo hair extensions in a ponytail

Ponytails are some of the most popular hairstyles with halo extensions! And, trust me they're a lot easier than they look.

There are a few ways you can put halo hair extension in a ponytail.

Some of the easiest halo hair extension tips and tricks for ponies are to simply pull the hair back into a low or mid pony while the extension is already in.

This requires no more effort than your low pony does sans the halo, but it looks sensational.

Another of my favs is using the halo as a wrap. To do this, remove the wire and replace it with two bobby pins.

Pull your hair into a high ponytail and push one of the pins into the base.

Wrap the length of the halo around the base and push the other pin in to secure it.

Leave an inch wide section of hair out and also wrap it around the base to hide the weft.

Curling your halo hair extensions

Curls are timeless. They never fail us when we want to look fancy or laid back...

Unless, like me, you have super thin hair, which can sometimes look a little more blah than beautiful when curled. Or more frizzy then flowey...

Ok, so sometimes curls can fail us. But, it's usually more to do with our hair's texture or condition than the style itself.

So, want a secret hair tip to boost your curl game? I'm obviously talking about the Halo Extension.

Even the fine halo takes a simple curly style from zero to 10,000 in just seconds. They add bulk and length while also hiding damage and frizz which this look can accentuate.

Also, in turn, did you know curling your hair can help blend your halo hair extensions?

That's right.

Not only is it a cute and timeless style, but various curly looks also double as halo hair extensions blending tips and tricks!

Tying your halo in a boho bun

Want to know how to style halo hair extensions in a bun? Sounds fake, but it can be done. Very easily, in fact.

Boho buns are actually one of the simplest styles for halo extensions.

Just put your halo in as normal - see instructions above. Pull your hair back into a low ponytail, and twist the length. Wrap the twist around the base of the ponytail and secure with bobby pins.

The looser the better for this beautiful boho look.
