Wake Up Fresh: The Best Morning Skincare RoutineIn this article
The best skincare routines are different from AM to PM. Yep.
You might be thinking you're doing all the right kind of skin things, but are you differentiating your skincare?
Swapping up your skincare for morning and night time could be the key to getting that glowing healthy complexion you've always wanted.
So, let's chat about the best morning skincare routine to help you wake up looking and feeling fresh too.
1. Light and Easy
Heavy and dense products first thing in the AM are a big no.
This is kinda just like pre clogging your pores.
So, how should I clean my face in the morning?
The best morning skincare routines only use a light weight cleanser, or just a water and a washcloth.
This should be all you need to cleanse, especially if you have properly cleaned your face the night before.
This helps keep your skin feeling light and fresh during the day too.
If you find just water and a washcloth isn't cutting it for cleaning use an oil or water based cleanser.
Keep the heavy foam formulas for the PM.
2. The Eyes Have It
Depending on if you're old enough to remember So Fresh albums, it may or may not be time for an eye cream.
(Sorry 90s babies, but I'm looking at you.)
This is an optional morning skincare step though.
The delicate skin under our eyes has a tendency to dry out, a small amount of a light, hydrating eye cream in the mornings helps to wake up and de-puff the skin under your eyes.
So, it's not only good for you, but it can also help you look like you've had enough sleep, even if last time you had a decent sleep was in the womb.
This step can be swapped out for a PM skincare routine if you prefer.
But if you're applying eye cream at night, opt for a heavier formula.

3. Tone Up
No gym required.
Toner and/or essence are a must when it comes to a solid skincare routine. Yet they're a step people so often neglect.
Toner is super important when it comes to barrier protection, so it absolutely should be applied in the morning.
This will help prevent any nasties and free radicals fighting their way into your pores.
It also hydrates your skin and helps restore your pH balance.
Opt for either a misting spray or apply your toner directly with your hands.
No cotton pads require.
Just dap a few drops into your face and press it in.
Give it a few moments to dry before moving on.

4. Hydration Station
Just like you should be drinking your water in the morning, you should also be hydrating your skin.
So, how to hydrate your skin in the mornings?
Serums.
These are the handiest hydrating secrets on the market.
Apply an antioxidant rich serum in the morning following your toner.
Pad the serum in with your finger tips and again, give it a few minutes to dry.
This will not only help hydrate your skin but it will also give a dewy glow for the day.
5. Oiled Up
You shouldn't be skipping the face oil, even if you have oily skin.
Sounds crazy I know.
But applying face oil in the mornings can seriously help oily and dry skin alike.
Similarly to serums, face oil helps with barrier control.
This means they protect your skin while keeping it clean and healthy.
They also help lock in moisture to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.
For the morning I'd suggest applying a light vitamin C based oil before your moisturiser and sunscreen.

6. Lock It In
When I hear people say they don't moisturise I literally die.
Firstly, how?
And secondly, HOW?
Without moisturiser I feel like I a shrivelled up sea creature.
Moisturiser is extremely important and should never be skipped, I don't care if you have oily skin.
Moisturise you dehydrated B*^#H.
This locks in all the other products and keeps your skin soft and hydrated.
Without it, you might as well not have a morning skincare routine.
For the AM use a lightweight cream and gently massage it into your face in circular motions.
But, there can be too much of a good thing, so a pea sized portion should be enough.

7. Here Comes The Sun
Little Darling, here comes the sun, and I say, don't forget your sunscreen!
Even if your moisturiser and foundation have SPF still apply sunscreen.
Everyday.
Don't forget, or instead of just feeling like a shrivelled up sea creature, in a few years you might look like one too.
Use a small amount of SPF as the last step in your morning skincare routine.
Don't use too much as it can block your pores.
A good amount is two thin lines the length of your index finger.
